Getting Here
Driving from Nairobi.
Nguruman sits on the floor of the Rift Valley, beneath the escarpment — the drive is part of the adventure. Here's how to get here, and what to know before you set off.
Nairobi → Magadi → Nguruman
Head south on Langata Road towards Bomas of Kenya, then turn onto Magadi Road. The road is tarmacked the whole way to Magadi town, via Kiserian and Oltepesi — roughly 3 to 4 hours from central Nairobi, depending on traffic. From Magadi town, continue on towards Nguruman; the final stretch is unpaved. Allow about 45 minutes to an hour from Magadi town to the resort.
4WD Recommended
A 4WD vehicle with good ground clearance is recommended for the unpaved stretch beyond Magadi town, particularly after rain.
Before You Set Off
Leave Nairobi early (ideally before 7am) to beat traffic and arrive with daylight to spare. Fuel up in Nairobi or Kiserian — fuel stations are limited beyond Magadi. Carry some cash, and pack water and snacks for the road, as there are few stops once you're past Magadi town.
